What is de - quervain tenosynovitis?

De - Quervain tenosynovitis is a painful, inflammatory condition caused by tendons on the side of the wrist at the base of the thumb. Pain gets worse with the abduction of the thumb, grasping action of the hand, and ulnar deviation of the wrist.

Physiotherapy management includes strengthening exercises once the pain is relieved to a manageable condition. Cryotherapy and splinting help recovery. Modalities help relieve pain followed by strengthening and mobilization which progresses gradually according to recovery.
