Hip Dislocation

HIP DISLOCATION:-

  • Is the dislocation or the displacement of the femur head from the acetabulum.
  • Mostly this causes damage to the tissue around the hip.

Characteristics Include:-

  • Severe pain (Radiating knee pain) swelling
  • Leg length discrepancy and deformity.
  • Hip Immobility
  • Traumatic hip dislocation
  • Male > Female
  • Posterior > Anterior
  • Neurological falls out mainly in the sciatic nerve distribution may be present.

Physiotherapy Management includes:-

  • Full rehabilitation following hip dislocation can take 2-3 months.
  • Gait Reduction
  • Improve hip range of motion
  • Strengthening of muscles around the hip, with a special focus on hip stabilizers.
  • Stretching
  • Joint mobilization

Use of modalities such as IFT/TENS, Ultrasound Therapy, hot pack/ Ice pack.
