HIP DISLOCATION:-
- Is the dislocation or the displacement of the femur head from the acetabulum.
- Mostly this causes damage to the tissue around the hip.
Characteristics Include:-
- Severe pain (Radiating knee pain) swelling
- Leg length discrepancy and deformity.
- Hip Immobility
- Traumatic hip dislocation
- Male > Female
- Posterior > Anterior
- Neurological falls out mainly in the sciatic nerve distribution may be present.
Physiotherapy Management includes:-
- Full rehabilitation following hip dislocation can take 2-3 months.
- Gait Reduction
- Improve hip range of motion
- Strengthening of muscles around the hip, with a special focus on hip stabilizers.
- Stretching
- Joint mobilization
Use of modalities such as IFT/TENS, Ultrasound Therapy, hot pack/ Ice pack.
